Green Belt Relays Brings Community Together for an Evening of Fun and Fitness

Green Belt Relays Brings Community Together for an Evening of Fun and Fitness

Green Belt Bank & Trust was proud to once again partner with Iowa Falls Parks and Recreation to host the annual Green Belt Relays, bringing together more than 130 kids from ages 7-14 for an evening focused on fun, fitness, and friendly competition.

The Green Belt Relays give young athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills in a variety of track and field events while building confidence, sportsmanship, and community connections. Participants competed in several individual and team events throughout the day, including the softball throw, long jump, and a variety of races such as the 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and the always exciting 4x100 relay race.

The event also serves as a qualifying meet for the Live Healthy Iowa State Track Meet held in Clear Lake early this summer. Participants who qualify at the Green Belt Relays will have the opportunity to advance and compete against youth from across the state — an exciting achievement for many of the young athletes involved.

The success of the event would not have been possible without the support of 20+ volunteers from Green Belt Bank & Trust as well as others from the community. Volunteers helped organize events, measure distances, time races, announce, line kiddos up, time races and ensure the event ran smoothly for athletes and families alike.

“At Green Belt Bank & Trust, we believe in supporting opportunities that bring families together and encourage healthy, active lifestyles,” said Molly Ackerson, Marketing Officer. “The Green Belt Relays are a wonderful tradition that allows kids to challenge themselves, have fun, and experience the value of teamwork and community support.”

Families, volunteers, and spectators filled the stands with encouragement and excitement as participants competed and celebrated one another throughout the evening. The event continues to be a highlight for kids as the school year comes to an end in Iowa Falls and reflects the strong partnership between local organizations working to invest in area youth.

Green Belt Bank & Trust extends a sincere thank you to Iowa Falls Parks and Recreation, all volunteers, parents, and participants who helped make this year’s Green Belt Relays a memorable success. We look forward to cheering on the athletes who advance to the Live Healthy Iowa State Meet and continuing this valued community tradition for years to come.

See you at next year’s Green Belt Relays!
