Our Story
History & Dedication
Our bank has been serving our customers from the same location in downtown Iowa Falls since the Citizens State Bank was chartered in April of 1935. In 1986, a local businessman and entrepreneur named Merle R. “Rocky” Weaver purchased the bank and renamed it Green Belt Bank & Trust. The bank name is descriptive of the Iowa River Greenbelt, a beautiful stretch of native timber and limestone outcropping along the Iowa River in Hardin County.
The bank remains family-owned by Rocky’s son, Christopher Weaver, alongside his wife, Jessie, and their sons, Sam and Carter.
Since 1986, the bank has grown year on year with bank offices in Ackley, Grundy Center, Eldora, Belmond and Parkersburg, along with Green Belt Insurance Agencies in Iowa Falls, Grundy Center & Ackley.
Through every stage of growth, the bank has remained committed to its core mission: to be recognized by our customers, employees, shareholders, and communities as a leader in our industry—providing a wide range of financial tools and delivering a level of service that exceeds expectations.
We are proud to dedicate this site to the memory of Merle “Rocky” Weaver and his wife, Christie. Their deep love for the community, its people, and the natural beauty of the Iowa River Greenbelt Region continues to inspire all that we do.
Today, the board of directors and staff of Green Belt Bank & Trust remain committed to Rocky’s original vision—helping our customers achieve their financial goals through trusted relationships, quality products, and exceptional service.
