Forty years ago, Green Belt Bank & Trust began with a simple idea: banking should be personal.
In 1986, local entrepreneur Merle "Rocky" Weaver purchased a small community bank with just one location and 20 employees. His vision wasn't simply to build a bigger bank—it was to build a better one. One that knew its customers by name, invested in its communities, and helped local families and businesses succeed.
This month, as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary, we're proud to look back at how far we've come—but even more excited about where we're headed.
More Than Growth—A Commitment That Never Changed
Over the last four decades, we've grown from a single hometown bank into a community-focused financial institution. Along the way, we've welcomed new branches, expanded our services, launched Green Belt Insurance locations, and grown from $59 million to more than $740 million dollars in assets.
But one thing has remained exactly the same: People come first.
Every decision we've made has been centered around helping our customers reach their goals while strengthening the communities we proudly call home.
